Lyonne suffered a rough childhood since her parents divorced. She did however make impressive progress in her studies. Following her departure from school, she was able to begin receiving acting roles. She received many awards and nominations for her performance, among them the 'Primetime Emmy Award. Lyonne's private life has been problematic despite her successful career. Lyonne was cited for being drunk driving and had to be evicted by a landlord for her behavior. Lyonne had health issues in her younger years. Due to a heart condition and a heart attack, she underwent an open-heart operation.

She trained in boxing kickboxing wrestling and BJJ before making her debut as an amateur at the age of 18 at WCFC in a fight against Jaimee Nievera.
